As a specialist, niche .NET agency, residing in a hub of digital agencies in Dorset, Cold Banana looked to Why Digital to help the business scale while keeping the core culture intact.

The Brief

Being a relatively young agency, Cold Banana needed to establish itself within the agency ecosystem to deliver key projects while building a team structure that allowed the business to grow without compromising on work quality.

 

Why Digital as an integrated asset

While businesses will often look to hire a strategic director or another internal resource for such large projects, our role consisted in designing and delivering a brand strategy with real agility, eliminating the need for a dedicated team member. Working alongside the Managing Director on a regular basis, we defined the goals, needs and strategy in a hybrid consultant/brand strategist role.

 

What was Delivered?

We enabled growth within the team, specifically in the creation of a Client Services Director role, freeing the team up from a commercial perspective and allowing Cold Banana to win much larger value contracts, while staying in the same niche player market. Coaching the commercial team to win new, challenging pitches to enter a higher value space.

 

How did we do it?

Define the Agency goals

Every business needs a goal; Cold Banana’s was to establish itself as a niche expert in a busy digital ecosystem in Dorset. From short-term tactics to long term strategy of business growth, we established A to B and every step in between.

Add a key player to the team

By adding a dedicated Client Services Manager to the team, we were able to create a scalable process flow which enabled the development team to focus more time delivering projects, and a sustainable sales process which allowed Cold Banana to win much bigger business and centralise client communication.
Empower the Agency to grow commercially

Along with a small modification to the team, we helped the core team upskill themselves in order to win bigger business; pitching against agencies with ten times the workforce can be a daunting task, so coaching and support during key client pitches delivered great growth outcomes.
